I came upon this video series on Amherst College’s website that depicts “nooks and crannies” around the campus, and two and a half minutes into this video on the Rotherwas Room was a very interesting look into the carved statues in this 17th century room. The segment is called Fierce Females and shows the four female figures of Justice, Temperance, Prudence, and Fortitude that are part of the original structure.
Talk about some early girl power.
